J. ROBERT G. LABERGE, 81

Was U.S. veteran; worked for Tucker's

LEOMINSTER - J. Robert "Bob" G. LaBerge, 81, of Leominster, died Monday, Nov. 10, 2008, in HealthAlliance Hospital/Leominster.

He was born on July 18, 1927, in Fitchburg, the son of Alfred and Emma (Marien) LaBerge.He was a graduate of Fitchburg High School and received his bachelor's degree from Assumption College in Worcester.

Mr. LaBerge was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, having served on the U.S.S. Fargo; he attained the rank of Seaman First Class and earned the WWII Victory Medal. He worked for Tucker Manufacturing Co. of Leominster for over 40 years as the personnel director.

Mr. LaBerge was a longtime member of Oak Hill Country Club in Fitchburg; he served on the Board of Directors of A.R.C. and was a volunteer for over 40 years for the A.R.C. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Geraldine "Gerry" T. (Burke) LaBerge of Leominster; his daughter, Robyn Rouleau and her husband, John, of Littleton; his brother, Lauret Laberge of Fitchburg; a grandchild, Joseph Robert Rouleau; nephews William McGuiness, Mark Laberge and Burke Leger; nieces, Candace Race, Bonnie Burnap, Michele Sperlit, Nancy McGovern, Susan Babineau, Sandra Rantala, Sharon Laberge, and Sherry Francis.

The funeral, with military honors, will be held Friday, Nov. 14, at 10 a.m. in Wright- Roy Funeral Home, 109 West St., Leominster. Burial will be in St. Leo's Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday, Nov. 13, from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the A.R.C. Community Services, 564 Main St., Fitchburg, MA 01420 or to the Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
