WHAT IF BABE RUTH HAD NOT BEEN SOLD TO THE YANKEES?

FITCHBURG - That is the premise of the book, “Turning Back the Clock” by John Fitch V. The author will be in the Garden Room of the Fitchburg Public Library, 610 Main St., on Thursday, Aug. 12, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., to read from and discuss the book.

The Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees rivalry is legendary. In this riveting story the author explores what might have happened had Babe Ruth not been sold to the Yankees.

Grady Little, a young man of today, builds a time machine to find the answer.

In his review, Matt O’Connell of FenwayWest.com writes that “Fitch makes 1919 come to life through good research and excellent writing. The book is written with serious baseball fans in mind; those that know their history…a compelling look at the forces that set in motion 86 years of heartbreak, and how they might have been avoided.

Come to the library and hear Fitchburg resident John Fitch V discuss and read from his book and dream a bit about how different those lost World Series championships may have been.
