ART CENTER CELEBRATES SUMMERTIME

LEOMINSTER - Can’t get to the beach? No need to this Friday because you are cordially invited to a Beach Party Back Alley event beginning at 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, at the Leominster Art Center, 69 Main St. The event, in celebration of First Fridays, will feature seating and tables outside the back door with decorations and refreshments; entertainment from area break dancers, showing of skateboard movies, and a performance by Capoeira Marshal Arts Drum Group. 6 FRIDAY

St. Anthony Parish, 14 Phoenix St., Shirley, will host its annual bazaar from 5 to 10 p.m. A Lobster and Clam supper will be served, along with homemade seafood chowder, baked goods and pies. Festivities include a Kiddie Land, dunking booth, children’s games; a White Elephant sale,  raffle, and Chinese auction. Call (978) 425-4588.

7 SATURDAY

The annual Monoosnoc Brook clean-up will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, next to Friendly’s, downtown Leominster. A volunteer cookout to follow. Conducted by the Monoosnoc Brook Greenway Project.

Join the Dr. Martin T. Feldman Children’s Room, Leominster Public Library, 30 West St., at 3 p.m. for an interactive multicultural music program by the Beautiful Future Band. Children will go on a musical journey around the world, listening to music from countries including China, New Zealand, Ireland, the Caribbean, India, South and Central America, France, and the Middle East. The Westminster Town Band will perform a Summer Concert at 7 p.m. at the Bandstand on Academy Hill, Westminster. The band, under the direction of Mike Popik, will perform selections including the classics, movie and show tunes, marches and other popular works.
