Starburst celebrates Summer

Event to highlight The Colonial Band, fireworks and old-fashioned fun

The 18th annual fireworks and performance spectacular (rescheduled due to inclement weather) will be held with festivities beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, in the upper (baseball) field, Doyle Field, Priest Street, Leominster. Gates open at 4:30 p.m. Rain date is Sunday, Aug. 8.

Complimentary lights sticks and flags handed out by Rotary members, goodies for sale at the concession stand by the LHS Booster Club, a magic show, and plenty of good cheer for everyone, the event is sure to offer old-fashioned fun for all.

Performances by the Starburst Band, Fallbrook Songbirds and the Leominster High School Jazz Band will fill the air with music. With music being such a highlight of Starburst, this year The Colonial band, which celebrates its 100th anniversary, will be the sole recipient of the Citizens of the Year honor.

A spectacular fireworks display will cap off the evening at approximately 9 p.m.

This year’s special instructions

Due to the location change, Priest Street will be closed/blocked off from the tennis courts to Priest Street School due to the fireworks. This will be in effect from noon on Saturday/ Sunday (raindate) to after the fireworks are fired and a secure check has taken place. From noon on, no one will be able to be on the small track, tennis courts, Imagination Station until the event is completed.

The Green Street gate, Main gate, and a special gate across from the tennis courts will be open to allow attendees access to the field. Handicapped parking is available at Green Street and the main gate.
