WINTER CONCERT SERIES CELEBRATES THE SEASON

FITCHBURG – The Fitchburg State University Humanities Department will ring in the holiday season with a series of free concerts in December on the university campus.

The festivities begin with a choral concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, at Weston Auditorium, 353 North St. The concert will feature a variety of choral literature and vocal arrangements. The Fitchburg State University Choir, directed by faculty member Marjorie Ness and accompanied by William Ness will perform, as well as the Fitchburg State Chamber Singers, also conducted by Marjorie Ness. Harmonic Velocity, a student-run a cappella vocal group, will perform under the direction of Jillian Bailey with assistance by Theo Demosthenes.

The music continues at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, at Kent Recital Hall in the Conlon Fine Arts Building, 367 North St., when the Community Chamber Orchestra performs, conducted by faculty member Hildy Schilling.

The Fitchburg State University Band and Ensembles perform at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, at Weston Auditorium, 353 North St. The jazz and concert bands will present an evening of jazz classics, marches and hits.
